Dollar ahead of the Art
If there is one thing I would like for the Martial Art World to
know it would be.
"Don't put the dollar ahead of the art
".
Martial Arts is more then just punching and Kicking it's about
exercising and developing the Mind, Body and Spirit. I feel that the
Sensei should be more concerned about the development of his/her
students Mind, Body , Sprit and what is insides a students heart
then how full the cash register gets. So many Dojo advertise respect
and discipline but yet when you go to a open tournament students are
disrespectful to Blackbelts/ Sinbans (referees) and each other. It's not
all about the piece of plastic you win it's about what did it take to
win or if I didn't win what do I need to do to improve not to mention
did I get upset because I lost or did I shake hands and respectfully bow
to the person who won and learn from him/her. This all starts in the
Dojo, If you want know how good a school is watch the students and how
they act not the Sensei and his/her fancy moves.
We must
remember the tradition, the art, and the leadership that our Sensei
bestowed upon us and how hard we worked to get where we are now and pass
it on to our students, not because of the all mighty dollar but because
we love the art and know what benefits the Dojo can give to society. If
everyone trained in a Dojo that is true and sincere the world would be a
much more respectful and caring place. And just because a Dojo is
lined with trophies and has a big sign out front with neon lights
flashing doesn't really mean it's a True Dojo.
Thanks Ronnie
